Plateau Systems Wins HR Technology Conference Shootout

In the IndustryÃs First Integrated Performance & Learning Management Shootout, Plateau Wins Over Saba, Cornerstone OnDemand and KnowledgePlanet

Arlington, Va. • October 09, 2006 - Plateau Systems, a leading provider of software for developing, managing and optimizing organizational skills and talent, won the ”Industry’s First Integrated Performance & Learning Management Shootout” at the 9 th Annual HR Technology Conference and Exposition in Chicago, Oct 5.

The more than 350 human resource professionals in attendance at the shootout voted Plateau the winner after viewing live product demonstrations from all four competitors. The custom demonstrations followed scripted scenarios written by industry experts CEO and Principal Josh Bersin and Principal Analyst Leighanne Levensaler from Bersin & Associates, and HR Technology Conference Co-Chair Bill Kutik. The three other competitors were Cornerstone OnDemand, KnowledgePlanet and Saba.

“This was our third shootout in as many years involving performance management, the fastest-selling software application today in HR,” said Co-Chair Kutik. “Integrating it with learning management is clearly the next and most important step for organizations to take, and in our competition, Plateau was the clear favorite for both.”

Hailed as the "world's best conference on HR Technology,” Human Resource Executive magazine's annual HR Technology Conference is the world’s largest and designed to help senior HR executives and practitioners seize the business benefits from technology and ultimately improve their organizations' bottom line. This shootout enabled organizations to see the compelling benefits of integrating performance management and learning management.

All four shootout participants were required to conduct live, real-time demonstrations of their software across the same four scripted use-case scenarios. The scenarios focused on each vendor’s ability to demonstrate:

  • How an employee creates development goals and learning activities to support achievement of performance goals;
  • How an employee accesses and completes a learning experience that updates their development plan;
  • The process for a manager and colleague to complete a 360 multi-rater assessment, which incorporates an employee taking action on recommended learning and development;
  • How an employee adds competencies and development activities to their development plan - with manager approval - to support the next desired job in their career path.

Each HR professional in attendance voted for the company they felt was the best for each scenario. The attendees voted Plateau the winner in every one of the four scenarios, establishing Plateau as the clear winner in the overall shootout.

“As companies increasingly deploy strategic talent management applications, they are looking for a single technology solution that seamlessly ties together critical talent management components,” said Paul Sparta, Chairman and CEO, Plateau Systems. “The tight integration between our performance and learning management capabilities enables companies to not only measure employee performance, but take action to improve it with targeted development and learning activities. This seamless integration along with our flexibility and ease-to-use clearly gave us the edge over other competing products.”
